Every time I’m hired to photograph a wedding, I consider it a compliment and an honor. Out of all the photographers out there (and there are A LOT, especially in Southern California), they chose me to tell the story of their day. The Perfect Wedding Video’s guide advises how to get s a wedding film, crafted to perfection.
But when a family invites me into their lives a second time to photograph another family member’s wedding, I consider that a HUGE compliment. Back in 2008 I photographed Rob & Robin’s wedding. Rob’s mom Marcella wrote me one of the sweetest emails I’ve ever received. In it she said, “Please know that when my daughters get married (several years from now!) I have already promised them that we will fly you out to wherever the wedding takes place.” So sweet, right? But I didn’t think it would really happen.
Well….. I got a phone call from Marcella telling me that Kayla and Skylar were engaged and would I travel to Tucson to photograph it? You bet! I couldn’t be more honored!
Kayla knew Skylar in high school and actually had a crush on him. He was well respected, loved the Lord, was good at every sport, and she thought he was really cute too! She began praying for him. She prayed for who he would marry one day and that he would have a wonderful marriage. Well who knew she was actually praying for herself! They didn’t date until she was going to school in California. It would have been easier when they were the same state, but you never know God’s timing!
Such a fun bridal party!
This is Rob & Robin’s baby, Joseph. Such a cutie. And the one on the right is sister Sarah’s baby! 🙂
Kayla loves shoes and saved up for these Christian Louboutin’s.
Pretty girl!
The Schannep’s are a family of criers. My kind of people! Bart had his tissue close by all day.
Handsome dude.
Yay!
I love this moment between Kayla and her grandpa.
On to Skyline Country Club for more photos.
Arizona sunsets are gorgeous.
And the red rock just comes alive at that time of day.
A good friend of the family made the cake and it was beautiful and yuuuuuummmmy! Look at all those sugar flowers!
The night Skylar proposed, he took Kayla to look at Christmas lights in a neighborhood that is famous for their lights. Every year a certain house has a wishing tree, where people write down their Christmas wishes. Skylar asked permission to put up his own wishing tree with wishes for he and Kayla’s life together. So for their wedding, they decided to have another wishing tree for their guests to write down wishes for the two of them. Then the guests were encouraged to take a wish from the jar home with them. So cute!
Rob and Robin, one of my favorite couples! If I shoot Sarah’s wedding (in the purple), I will have photographed all the Schannep kids’ weddings! 🙂
