Dear Chris & Laura,
For most of my life, my birthday has involved getting together with family and friends and having a favorite meal and some presents. This year, I got to go out to lunch with my dear friend Karey and dinner with my family. But you guys gave me an extra special gift (well, Chris specifically, since you didn’t know what was going on, Laura!). I got to spend the afternoon doing what I was made to do. I was honored to be a part of one of the most special days of your lives. One you’ll talk about for the rest of your lives. I got to be there when you two got engaged!
Chris, when you contacted me asking me to be a part of it, I was like, “heck yes”! I’m so impressed with the lengths you went to construct this plan. Making an invitation for a “Princess Photo Shoot” that you “won”. Having someone at church give Laura the invite and finding friends like me and Mike, who Laura had never met, to photograph and film the whole thing. Even getting the costumes and choosing Sleeping Beauty, knowing Aurora is Laura’s favorite Disney Princess. Nice work!
When the two of you walked up it was really weird pretending we’d never met, but we quickly got things rolling, giving you your costumes to change into. I kept saying Chris was a great sport for wearing this costume for his girlfriend. More than she even knew at the time!
Laura, you had no problem “channeling your inner princess”, although I think Chris wanted to gag when I said that. 🙂
Here you are just strolling through the “enchanted forest” (aka the Grand Californian)
You even had perfect princess hands! It’s all about the pinkie. 🙂
You two are adorable.
Laura, I thought it was so funny when I asked you two to dance and you told me Chris actually does dance. Little did you know that Chris and I met several years ago through the swing dancing community. But I played along and asked what kind of dancing and acted genuinely impressed when I “found out” Chris was a swing dancer.
Then it was time to move to the location of the “big moment”. Chris, I wondered what you were thinking as we were headed over there, knowing that you were going to be asking Laura to marry you in a matter of moments! Chris had talked to the hotel peeps about having a bench in this spot for us to reenact the Sleeping Beauty story. Nice work Disney peeps!
Prince Charming awakening his Princess with true love’s kiss.
But Aurora didn’t get awakened with a diamond engagement ring like Laura did. This story is better for sure!
I love your reaction Laura!
Then we revealed our true identities and explained how all of this was a set-up! It was fun to do a little lying… er… uh… acting. 🙂 So creative, Chris!
Time to get you two out of your costumes and take some more photos! Next surprise…. an engagement session in the park! “THE” PARK. Disneyland!
More on that later.
