Well we did it!
We done got married! I can’t believe it!
Everyone always asks newlyweds, “Sooo??? How’s married life?” So I’ll tell ya. Our whoppin’ two weeks experience has been great so far. Yeah, we’ve got this married thing down! Just kidding.
There are a lot of adjustments. I’ve spent the better part of the past week putting away wedding gifts, cleaning out drawers, taking boxes of stuff to Goodwill, and making space for a husband. And I was a little bit out of it the past week. I don’t think either of us has been sleeping too well, getting used to sharing a bed. Having a 6’4” 270 lb heater in bed with you when you’re used to having the whole bed to yourself is definitely an adjustment! 🙂 But what a blessing it is to wake up to such a wonderful man every day. Especially when my sleepy eyes meet his smiling ones and he whispers, “You’re cute!” That’s a pretty great way to start the day!
It’s been fun having conversations about what we want our day to day lives to look like. How do we want to spend our time? What is the rhythm of married life going to look like? We don’t know for sure, but what’s fun is that we get to create it together. I love that!
It’s also a great time to create some mental space and see if there are any adjustments I’d like to make in my business. Even though I’ve been to and photographed a gazillion weddings and been a bridesmaid 11 times (don’t laugh!), only now can I really see things from the perspective of the bride. And I’m wondering, what about my experience will change how I run my business? Will I do things differently with my brides? Will I give them different advice than I did before? How will I photograph a wedding, knowing what I know now? I’m excited to explore that!
Also… you should get ready to hear a lot about my wedding. I want to feature all of my wonderful vendors, so I will do that a little bit at a time, as I get more photos. I also have some shoots that I never got around to posting, so I’ll mix those in as well.
But for now, I will leave you with a few photos from our fabulous photographer and friend, Ally. She seriously rocked it!
