One of the best parts of planning a wedding is the cake tasting.  I mean you get to go look a photos of pretty cakes, but more importantly, you get to eat cake.  Quite a bit of cake actually.  Or is that just me?

Choosing a bakery to make our cakes was a no brainer.  Beverly’s Best is amazing!  I met Jen, the owner of Beverly’s, when she did the cake for a wedding I shot.  She called me up a few months later and asked me to do family portraits and since then I’ve photographed them several times, including three of the cutest birthday parties you’ve ever seen!

Jen was so great to work with.  I brought in some ideas I had pinned.  As we sifted through them, we decided on doing three different cakes, all with different textures and different colors.  I love the way they all worked together.

 

Look at the gorgeous sugar flowers they made!

A lot of people told me that the grey cake was their favorite since they had never seen anything like it before.

But I have to say that the little pink one was my favorite.  I love how it looked like a big flower.  And of course we had to have cupcakes since they were such a big part of our dating relationship.

And I thought cookies would be fun and would add to the “homey” feeling we were going for.

And since that’s not quite enough sugar, we added a little candy bar.  What can I say, we love our sugar!  These are just some of our favorite candies!

And of course the cake cutting!  Jen made a small gluten free cake for us to cut since Tony can’t eat gluten.  And it was great that we could offer our gluten free friends a piece of cake!

I don’t have a problem with a little smooshing!

Especially when you get to kiss it off!
